REJU JOSEPH
Dr. Reju Joseph is an Indian playback singer, ghazal singer, and music director who works in the Malayalam film industry. As a playback singer, he has lent his voice to more than 13 films, including ‘Meenathil Thalikettu’ (1998), ‘Sundara Khiladi’ (1998), ‘Classmates’ (2006), ‘Achanurangatha Veedu’ (2006), ‘Panthaya Kozhi’ (2007), and many more. He has also provided music direction and background scores for two films: ‘Thank You Very Much’ (2017) and ‘Thee’ (2021).
Reju is rated as a Top Grade (A-Top) light music Malayalam singer by All India Radio and, after achieving Top Grade, has become a jury member of the All India Radio Audition Board in New Delhi. He also holds an honorary doctorate in music.
During his academic studies at Mar Ivanios College, while pursuing a Pre-degree, B.Com, and LLB from Law Academy Law College, Thiruvananthapuram, he won the National Inter-University Youth Festival for Light Music and was a six-time winner at the Kerala University Youth Festival.
He has won the All Kerala Hindi Prachara Sabha Ghazal Competition six times as well. Reju has performed filmy/non-filmy songs and ghazals on most TV channels, receiving several awards for Best TV Channel Singer.
Reju has composed music for albums featuring lyrics by notable writers such as ONV Kurup, Gireesh Puthencherry, Rafeeq Ahammed, R.K. Damodaran, and Santhosh Varma. He has conducted stage shows across India and internationally in the USA, Canada, Singapore, and the UAE, including performances for several AMICOS events in Dubai, Kuwait, and Abu Dhabi.
He is a disciple of Carnatic gurus Smt. Annapoorneshwari, Sri Perumbavoor G. Raveendranath, Sri Cherthala Gopalan Nair, and Sri NP Ramaswamy, and has studied Hindustani classical music under Pandit Ramesh Narayan and Ustad Fayaz Khan.
Now settled in Cochin, he owns a film-standard recording studio named Sarangy in Kaloor, Cochin.
